If storytelling was my first love, a passion that stemmed from the written word, then visual storytelling has always been the second love of my life.
I grew up with an addiction to all different kinds of film. From classics to cult to horror to international my appetite has yet to be satisfied when it comes to the film industry. I watch any and everything I can get my hands on. So naturally from that, I developed an unspoken relationship with storytelling on the big screen, determined to find my place in the limelight someday. Though my end game always leaned towards writing and screenwriting, I couldn't help the control editing videos has taken hold of on me.
Some writers write novels and poetry. I splice and cut video to tell my stories.
Editing is how I write. It's how I tell my stories.
For years, I searched for the right medium for my love of storytelling, until one day I started to learn to edit. It's been my medium of telling stories ever since. I've been lucky in my career, I've gotten to tell many unique and powerful stories. I only hope that I can continue writing through splices and pacing, through color grades and motion graphics.
Now for the facts ...
I am a Lead Post Editor at ESPN.
I have worked at ESPN since 2019 where I first started out as a Post Editor. I was promoted after a full year with the company. Since joining ESPN, I was awarded many Emmy nominations including two official Emmy wins. I specialize there in long-form documentary film edits. I have collaborated on multiple projects such as "Unrivaled", "Intimidator", "The Survivor", "A Murder in Memphis", "The Band is on the Field", "The Paterno Legacy", and many more. I worked on these films as the lead edit coordinator guiding a small team of editors in the creation of these many products. I've assisted ESPN in creating more efficient processes for multiple brands they have, working with my team to find ways to edit in a more organized fashion. Working at ESPN has allowed me to grow immensely in my skills as an editor. Prior to ESPN, I specialized mainly in smaller pieces that involved lots of graphics. ESPN has given me the chance to really move into a film related genre where I can really utilize my skills as a storyteller.
